Our story

Why we started ichdu

We kept meeting people with a story worth sharing — a small shop, a craft, a lifetime of photographs, a career worth showing off — who felt the internet simply wasn't built for them. Drag-and-drop builders were fiddly and full of settings nobody asked for. Agencies were priced for businesses, not people. And “just make a website” never turned out to be as simple as it sounded.

What we noticed was that almost none of them actually wanted software. They didn't want a dashboard, a login, a subscription to learn, or a support ticket queue. They wanted the thing at the end: a page on the internet that looked like them, that worked, and that somebody else kept an eye on.

So we built the opposite of a website builder

ichdu is German for “I and you” — ich and du. That's the whole idea. You talk to a real person, we build the site, and we keep it running. You never touch code, you never log into anything, and when you want something changed you send a message the way you'd message a friend.

We show you your website before you pay anything. If it isn't right, you walk away and you owe us nothing. We think that's how it should work when somebody is trusting you with their story.

What we care about

If that sounds like what you've been looking for, tell us about yourself and we'll show you what your website could look like — free, and before you decide anything.
